(Tue Jan 10th) In the morning I awoke within a misty quaint room within Guayabo Eco lodge, feeling relaxed about the heavy rains and condensation on my window pane. Back on the tour bus at 7:30 a.m. and on our way to CATIE’s graduate university, I witnessed clear blue skies and great weather (with occasional rain moments) and my colleagues and I learned the stories and curriculum structure of Costa Rica’s oldest environmental institution. With their methodology of teaching being that the graduate students continue their works and ambitions while utilizing their preserved botanical garden collection, and creating projects/jobs prior to graduation for two years.
Attending the organic coffee plantation and farmland with horses, rabbits, pigs, dogs, and a sheep really melted my heart! 🙂 it was at that moment in the day that preservation, and humans living in a more coexisting state in present day is very probable, practical, and effective. I tasted and purchased coffee bags from the farm, completely satisfied.
