Emma-Ching ‘Volcanic Hikes and Rare Species’

(Jan 12) Today my favorite moment had to be crossing the largest bridge in Costa Rica and seeing the rare medium sized black mammal of the weasel family. Hiking to Arenal volcano was breathtaking to be so close to an active sight. I believe those who went on the hike as well were enjoying the view. Primary and secondary succession could visibly be seen as the bare volcanic rock had moss, small grasses, and few smaller plant species. The trail was approximately 380km and took us about an hour to walk, taking breaks and wonderful pictures of the nature that surrounded us.
